entresD says that the printer is ready for use in 15 minutes. I have to say that if had had a little more experience would have been as well. The power button is located on the back of the printer. On the front we have a reset button you have to press to start the printer. The printing software is available for Windows and Mac computers. Only remains to initialize the printer from the program and choose the print settings. Thus, if it is a solid piece we can print as is or make it hollow, with greater or lesser density reticle and the consequent saving of material. You can also choose the quality of printing, which will improve the final result but it also noticeably improve the time that I take to have each piece. As an example, the ring of Green Lantern I show you here took more than half an hour to print.

After making the first test I’ve noticed that missing a piece, a tube that curves a little material and making the same feed to work properland and that we don’t have to be watching the impression. But for testing I had no more problem.

Printing parts in three dimensions in the up! Plus

After sending the piece to the printer received a message from the time it will take to have it listed, as well as the weight in material that we will spend (interesting to know the price of each piece) and a series of quite high and shrill beeps us will be notified that it is going to start work. Before printing each piece creates a layer of material that we then withdraw and that is used to secure the printing to the perforated base.

Although it is true that on other occasions and depending on the geometry of the part and above all the qualitand and density of the part, the unwanted parts come out virtualland alone and without damaging our impression. There are printers with double-head and that injects a water-soluble material, so at the end of printing submerged it and will disappear the unwanted part of the piece.

Printing, except for the initial beeps, is more or less silent. That if you discount the fan that cools the fixation of the material nozzle and the movements of the truck and head. We must also comment that that should put it in a place ventilated but away from possible air currents to prevent condensation of plastic vapours.

The printing process has something hypnotic. When we send a piece we’ll astonished info (or at least I do) seeing how the head goes painting each of the surfaces which then make up the object.

Qualitand and results

The results, especially in high quality, are really good. The part of parts which is not in contact with the surface or with parts of the subject that creates the printer when printing are smooth and with a good finish.

I also have to say that process has some trial and error. Thus, some parts will not be well since you have to preheat the base so that it bends and at the end is wrong, as it has already happened once. The problem comes when the part is loose or see that printing is not going as it should. The print only can be stopped by pressing the off button, for which we will have to hold truck print with gloves to not burn because this will fall even without holding. Another thing I miss is the ability to pause printing, since once launched this printer is autonomous. We can even disconnect from the computer in the process and it continues printing.

Taking all this into account, and considering that the material is cheap and maybe we will need to print each piece more than once until we have the desired result, 3D printing is something really rewarding. Expensive in time, but useful and interesting in equal parts.

Future or present 3D printing

I don’t know if speak of present or discuss future of 3D printing. Although there is 3D printers of qualitand as the up! Plus we reviewed, the printers have to keep evolving. Thus, with a sensor that measured the distance which is the head we would not have to adjust the height of the platform at the time of print. The support on which is printed the piece must also become self-cleaning and not rely on other elements or parts. With the development of new elements and the lowering of the printers we are going to attend a real revolution.

The 3D printing advances to quick steps and on the right track

I’ve been wanting to develop an object from the beginning in a design program, but the truth is that I have not had time to do so.

Personal printing in three dimensions is within our reach and do not need to invest in more expensive equipment than it would cost us a good computer to have objects with a good quality. That Yes, I believe that to print 3D is something travel. Thus, the printers should have two nozzles, one with soluble material to not leave burrs and not to damage the piece. Some models already have this. They should also be self-cleaning, rather as a pyrolitic ovens, to remove all traces of the printer dock. And, finally, should be able to autoajustarse. An idea would be that you combine 3D scanning with the printing on the same computer, so they could print a sample workpiece, digitize it and correct the parameters so that the next time the piece comes out perfect.
